@David - sadly true about the Mail's massive sphere of influence.

@Mark I hate it for its obsessive coverage of stories against women, immigrants and anyone else posing a potential threat to the cosy 1950s world view it has. A newspaper should contain news not whipped-up hatred, hysteria or gossip.

@Pseudonyms R Us Indeed. I doubt it would get past Dacre's net bouncers! Still, in consolation, everyone's saying it everywhere else.

Well said. But try saying it in the Mail's comment section. Freedom of speech? Hah!

Great article Louise.

Couldn't agree more, the Mail is out of touch, filled with nonsense material that is out of place in a newspaper.

Couldn't agree more. But sadly, the Mail has one of the most loyal followers among newspaper readers and hits a key demographic. Note how the MoS whipped up a storm about Brand and Ross which then led to the world and its wife jumping on board.

Sadly, for those of us with a more moderate and less intrusive leaning we're just voices chirruping on the sidelines.

As a PR, the Mail is often a key target to secure and until middle-class mums and small business owners start reading other media in droves it will still wield its enormous power.

Now, where did I put that bull-whip...
